About this Business
This is the franchise for the Blue Moon Estate Sales, Rancho Cucamonga territory. The territory extends from Fontana to Glendora.
First year sales included a weekend total over $25,000 and another over $33,000, both at a 40% commission. Longer term franchises report numbers like that on a regular basis.
Growth opportunities
We had just recently tightened up our operations and were starting to make a profit on each sale. We also had plans for a huge county-wide event to run twice a year which would have been phenomenal for both marketing and been very profitable.
Owner's Day-to-Day Involvement
The job requires extensive marketing and networking to find clients. That was my primary role as owner - a passive owner could hire someone to do everything but it would be more cash intensive.
Franchise Accolades & Awards
The franchise has over 100 locations nationwide. This was the first Blue Moon Estate Sales location in California; there are now at least four.

Why I Love My Franchise
This business was an amazing opportunity, offering great growth potential in addition to being a lot of fun. We got to make a difference for clients going through difficult transitions, and got to find unique treasures in the process.
About Blue Moon Estate Sales
Blue Moon Estate Sales is an estate sale and liquidation franchise that runs residential, commercial and moving sales for clients managing major life transitions: downsizing, a move to assisted living, or settling the estate of a loved one. Founded in Raleigh in 2009 and franchising since 2013, the brand built a standardized, professional model in an industry long dominated by independent operators.
The model is home-based and mobile, with no retail storefront. Sales take place inside the client’s home and the goods belong to the client, so franchisees carry minimal inventory and need no warehouse. Each franchisee works a protected territory, and weekend sales draw large local shopper crowds across the U.S.
Blue Moon is part of Best Life Brands, a private-equity-backed group whose portfolio centers on senior and home-care services such as ComForCare and CarePatrol, aligning the estate-sale brand with the same downsizing market. Franchisees run on the proprietary Moonetize system, which uses AI-assisted data on item history, rarity and comparable sales to price and prepare estate goods at scale.
Franchisee Support
Incoming owners train through Blue Moon University (BMU), a three-phase program: onboarding via interactive courses and a checklist, a two-week virtual classroom phase covering sale setup, inventory and team leadership, and a launch phase. Ongoing support includes assigned business coaches, a franchisee collaboration network, BMU's online platform for hiring and retraining staff, and the proprietary Moonetize pricing and customized software for client management, reporting and loyalty programs. Resale buyers should confirm with Blue Moon what transfer training and Moonetize system access carry over to a new owner and existing staff.
Brand Accolades & Awards
Blue Moon Estate Sales is ranked annually in Entrepreneur's Franchise 500 (most recently #478 in 2026), and has been named to the Franchise Times ZOR Awards "Best Franchises to Buy" (2022), Franchise Dictionary's 100 Game Changers (2021 and 2024) and Franchise Business Review's Top 200 franchises (2026). Internal honors include a 2021 Top Marketing Award and recognition as a top-performing multi-territory franchise. For resale buyers, brand-level recognition should be weighed alongside the specific territory's local reviews, referral sources and community visibility.
Industry / Market
Estate-sale demand in the U.S. is propelled by an aging population: roughly 10,000 Americans turn 65 each day, and the large baby-boomer cohort is steadily downsizing, relocating to senior living or passing estates to heirs. This creates a sustained pipeline of liquidation work that holds up across economic cycles, since life transitions happen regardless of the market. Revenue is project-based and can be seasonal, so resale buyers should weigh a territory's population age profile, local competition and the consistency of its sales calendar.
Ideal Owner
The model suits a sales- and marketing-minded local operator who is comfortable building referral relationships, leading a small team and managing the logistics of weekend sales. No estate-sale or industry experience is required, since BMU training covers valuation, operations and marketing, but candidates should be organized, hands-on and at ease working with families during emotionally sensitive transitions. Strong people skills and local-community networking matter more than retail background; compassion and professionalism are central to winning clients and protecting the brand's reputation.
