Reason for Selling

I knew I wanted this franchise and business when I was working out at a SPENGA. It truly is the best workout. Other workouts don’t encompass the whole body. I decided to become a franchisee with my daughter while on the bike working out. The community is great. The franchisor is great and you are helping people feel better. Win-win-win!

Why I Love My Franchise

I bought this franchise with my daughter, who was going to run it. Her life took a turn when she got into Physician Assistant school. She has moved out of the Denver area and so will not be able to oversee the business. And my home is in another state. Sadly, we have wouldn’t do the brand justice being out of town.

About Spenga

SPENGA is a boutique fitness franchise built around a single 60-minute workout that combines three disciplines: spin, strength training and yoga, branded as Ride, Rep, Revive. The format is designed to deliver cardio, strength and flexibility in one session rather than the single-modality focus of most boutique studios. The brand was founded in 2015 and began franchising the same year.

The business is a membership-based studio model that generates recurring revenue from memberships and class packages. Studios operate from leased commercial space within protected territories, and the brand has sold more than 300 studios across the United States. SPENGA is led by an executive team that built and ran a large Chicago health-club group before launching the concept, and it stays closely involved in day-to-day operations.

What sets SPENGA apart is the three-in-one session structure, supported by trackable spin technology, a custom member app and a proprietary operating system. The combined format is positioned to drive member variety, engagement and retention within the wider boutique fitness category.

Franchisee Support

Incoming owners complete SPENGA's initial program of 89 hours combining classroom and on-the-job training. Ongoing support runs through a staff learning-management platform, a custom CRM, a branded member app, KPI dashboards and franchisee websites, with three monthly network calls for owners, managers and instructors plus an annual conference. Operations Support Specialists deliver on-site studio training and Master Instructors certify instructor candidates. Resale buyers should confirm what onboarding transfers to a new owner and what CRM and dashboard access carries over.

Brand Accolades & Awards

SPENGA has built recognition quickly since 2015, with more than 300 studios sold across the US. It has ranked on the Inc. 5000 (No. 916 in 2022), Inc. Regionals Midwest (No. 43 in 2022) and Entrepreneur's Franchise 500 (No. 380 in 2022, a second consecutive year). Earlier honours include Franchise Journal Top Brands (2021), Franchise Dictionary Magazine Top 100 Game Changers (2020), Franserve Fran-tastic 500 Top Fitness Brand (2020) and Franchise Brokers Association Brand of the Year (2019). For resale buyers, brand recognition should be weighed alongside a studio's local reviews and reputation.

Industry / Market

The US health and fitness club industry generates roughly $35 billion in annual revenue, and boutique studios have been its fastest-growing segment, holding a large share of total memberships. Demand has rebounded strongly since the pandemic, with consumers favouring specialised, experience-led and group formats over traditional gyms. Recurring memberships give the category resilience across economic cycles, though individual studios remain tied to local population density, disposable income and competition. For resale buyers, a studio's catchment and the strength of its membership base are the key local demand signals.

Ideal Owner

SPENGA suits a hands-on, community-minded operator who can build and motivate a studio team rather than a passive investor. The day-to-day is operations- and people-led: hiring and retaining instructors and managers, driving membership and presales, running local marketing and creating the energetic studio culture that keeps members coming back. A genuine interest in fitness helps, but sales ability, staff management and a consistent customer experience matter more than personal-training credentials. Owners comfortable working to KPIs and performance dashboards tend to fit the model well.
