About this Business
My wife and I bought into the Knockouts brand nearly 4 years ago and have truly enjoyed the ride! We purchased the 2d store ever opened because of the golden opportunity to rebuild a struggling location – we have accomplished just that. The store has had consistent management and retained key personnel so that we have been able to convert it from a location that was losing a small amount of money, to one that is profitable and generating a consistent income for us,
This location, in Arlington, TX, is strategically located near AT&T Stadium and surrounded by multiple communities that contain our Ideal Customer Profile (ICP). Immediately after purchase, we began an end-to-end upgrade to bring the location up to franchise standards: new paint, new signage, new barber chairs, new lounge area (grooming sinks, etc.), new lobby area, new interior electronic menu board signage, new computer systems, new kitchen area, bathroom remodel, manager office remodel, etc. All of this is still in “like new” condition.
True to the word of the Franchise at the time of our purchase, a Knockouts location only requires between 5 and 10 hours of owner involvement per week. We use a bookkeeper, which is our only service expense, and easily handle the payroll every two weeks. Candidly, we should put more time and effort into marketing for even higher profitability however, our team (and this type of business in general) is all about building a client portfolio. Each of our stylists has a strong clientele that drive profitability to the business. We will provide more detail about how this works with qualified, interested buyers.
Now ready to retire, we look forward to transferring this profitable business to someone who can breathe another round of “new life” into this historic location. Keeping in mind that a new franchise costs more than $250k and will lose money until a clientele is built, this is an EXCELLENT opportunity with a low-cost point of entry with an immediate cash flow!
Growth opportunities
A new owner has an excellent opportunity to dramatically increase net revenue with increased marketing of the business. Any increase in customer will drive revenue directly to the bottom line because in this business, labor is our highest expense. Therefore, once each individual barber or stylist becomes profitable with their own clientele, every new customer's investment in their personal grooming service goes right to the bottom line. It will take little effort to increase owner income in this location - but more effort than my wife and I have been able to afford from a time standpoint.
Owner's Day-to-Day Involvement
A Knockouts only requires 5 to 10 hours of owner involvement per week. We use a bookkeeper, which is our only service expense, and easily handle the payroll every two weeks. We speak to our manager almost daily by phone, manage a team group chat for communication, and one of us visits the salon 2X/week for a few hours - just to stay connected to the staff, ensure our culture is being maintained, and provide support, but that is not required. Owner is also responsible for marketing & promotion.
Franchise Accolades & Awards
In 2023, we were awarded "Most Improved Franchise Location". However generally, our industry, and the franchise company, do not offer accolades or wards other than top revenue generating locations. Our Arlington location is a smaller one, and therefore has not ranked in the top 5 of all locations, which is required for accolades.
Additional Info
We hope you will enjoy working with the ladies that are our barbers and stylists as much as we have. It is a service industry that is enjoyable to "hang around" in as men come in to upgrade their look, get personal care and grooming tips and/or products and eventually, find a place they can return to regularly - knowing they will be taken care of. And of course, the immediate income string is a large benefit that is rare with most new franchises.
Asset Description
Assets include all free-standing equipment such as barber chairs, sink and grooming stations, lobby furniture, computer equipment, electronic equipment (televisions and cable boxes at each grooming station), etc.
Inventory Description
In addition to the assets noted above, we stock a variety of hair, beard, and personal care products for men. This inventory changes from week to week and month to month and is of minimal value, generally speaking, because we try not to overstock.
Reason for Selling
The primary reason for selling is that we are ready to fully retire. We look forward to transferring this profitable business to someone who can breathe another round of "new life" into this historic location. Keeping in mind that a new franchise costs more than $250k and will lose money until a clientele is built, this is an EXCELLENT opportunity with a low-cost point of entry with an immediate cash flow!
Why I Love My Franchise
We enjoy the sense of accomplishment that our "day jobs" can't offer as we have seen the salon grow into a thriving business. We also enjoy the interactions with our staff and the joy of helping these young ladies earn a reasonable income and evolve into young professionals - managing what we always say is "their business" as they build their clientele and increase income via our commission plan. We have also find it cool to tell people that we "own a franchise business" (ego, I know, lol).
