Buy a Hike Doggie Franchise

Hike Doggie is a dog hiking service. Trained hikers collect dogs from home in a branded bus, drive them to local trails for a leashed group hike, then clean them up and bring them back. Customers are busy dog owners who want more exercise and socialization for their pets than a neighborhood walk or daycare provides, and most book recurring weekly hikes.

The business can be run from home or from a commercial base inside a protected territory. Each bus carries up to 12 dogs in individual travel spaces, and the daily work is split between drivers and trail hikers. Single-territory and multi-territory packages are offered.

Founder Kath Allen started Hike Doggie in Golden, Colorado in 2016 and franchising began in January 2024. In 2025 the franchisor moved under Loyalty Brands, the Virginia Beach group led by John T. Hewitt, founder of Jackson Hewitt and Liberty Tax, and joined its Everything Pets platform with Zoomin Groomin, Salty Dawg and Cooper’s Scoopers. Allen remains CEO. It is a newer system with a small network across a handful of states.

Why buy a Hike Doggie Franchise?

The draw of a Hike Doggie franchise is a distinctive service with a repeat-booking habit built in. Dog hiking sits apart from walking and daycare, so a local operator is rarely competing like for like, and the brand positions itself as the only franchise in the niche, in a pet services category that has held up well across economic cycles.

Scheduled weekly hikes give an owner visible, recurring revenue, and there is no inventory to carry. Growth comes from filling seats on each bus and then adding buses, which makes dog count per hike the number to watch. Founder involvement, Loyalty Brands’ franchise-building experience and cross-referral potential with sister pet brands sit behind a young concept.

Hike Doggie – Additional  Information

  1. Training & Support

Initial training totals 67 hours: 20 hours of online pre-training, a five-day, 40-hour program held in Golden, Colorado, at another designated training center or online (15 classroom hours and 25 on the job, covering hike-day roles, first aid and lost-dog procedures), then 10 hours of online follow-up on operations and marketing. Each franchisee works with a Franchise Business Consultant. Specified software includes Time to Pet for scheduling, RoadWarrior routing, Fi GPS collars, Lixup fleet tracking and HireClick for recruiting. Resale buyers should confirm what training incoming owners receive and which Time to Pet client records transfer.

  2. Ideal Owner

No pet-industry experience is required, though a real affection for dogs and the outdoors is assumed. Early on the owner is likely to drive, hike and handle new-client calls and home visits personally, so the model suits a hands-on, safety-minded operator with good people skills. As the dog count grows the job shifts to recruiting, training and scheduling a team of hikers and drivers, which rewards process-driven owners who are comfortable managing staff. The brand presents a semi-absentee option; in practice that depends on a dependable lead hiker.

  3. Recognition & Awards

Hike Doggie's Colorado flagship earned the Rotary Club of Golden's Ethics in Business Award in 2023, an honor that was also entered in the Congressional Record, and the company lists 2017 reader's-choice wins from 5280 Magazine and Westword. 5280 has featured the service in its Denver dog guides, and Franchise Times covered the brand's move into Loyalty Brands' Everything Pets platform. For resale buyers, the reputation that counts most is local: Google reviews, client referrals and how recognizable the blue bus has become in the territory.

  4. Industry / Market

Americans spent $158 billion on their pets in 2025, up 3.7% on the prior year, with $165 billion projected for 2026 (American Pet Products Association, 2026 State of the Industry Report). APPA puts dog ownership at 53% of US households, or 71 million homes, with growth led by Gen Z, Millennial and Gen X owners, though it also notes more value-conscious spending. Dog hiking is a premium, discretionary service that sells year-round; resale buyers should weigh local household incomes, trail access, leash rules and weather in the specific territory.
